2021 Newcastle Island part I

"This walk brought us to a sandstone quarry, long since abandoned"

Newcastle Island has numerous walking paths, places to camp, a concession stand and lots of history. We took a small ferry to the island from Maffeo-Sutton Park in Nanaimo. This walk brought us to a sandstone quarry, long since abandoned. The big sandstone cylinder at the end of the video sat underwater for a hundred years after the ship that was carrying it, the Zephyr, sank just off of Mayne Island. The trails are easy to walk with a few short inclines. I heard it takes 2 ½ hours to walk around the perimeter of the island but we haven’t done that yet. Maybe in part II?

Did you find the Canada Goose?

Where was your last walk?
